Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions — and that's completely okay. Here are answers to some of the most common ones. If you don't see what you're looking for, feel free to reach out directly.
How do I get started?
Take your time looking around. Read about my approach, explore the specialties I work with, and get a feel for who I am and how I work. When you're ready, click the "Start Your Journey Here" button to schedule your intake session. There's no preliminary call required — if what you've read resonates with you, that's enough to begin.
What happens at the intake session?
Your intake session is your first full therapy appointment. It's a 60-minute session where we go deeper — your history, what's been going on, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. It's also a chance for us to connect, ask questions, and make sure we're a good fit before moving forward with regular sessions. All new clients are required to complete an intake before beginning therapy.
Do I have to be in crisis to come to therapy?
Not at all. Many of the women I work with are high-functioning and doing well on the outside — they come to therapy because something feels off beneath the surface, or because they want to understand themselves better and break patterns that are no longer serving them. You don't have to be falling apart to deserve support.
How does telehealth work?
All sessions are conducted via telehealth, which means we meet virtually from wherever you are. You'll need a private space, a stable internet connection, and a phone, tablet, or computer. Before your first session you'll receive instructions through the client portal on how to join. It's simple, secure, and confidential.
What states do you provide therapy in?
I am licensed to provide therapy in North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland. You must be physically located in one of these states at the time of your session.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, for individual therapy I am in-network with the following plans:
-
UnitedHealth / Optum
-
Aetna
-
Cigna
-
Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC
-
Carelon
-
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Virginia
Couples therapy is self-pay only. For any insurance plan not listed above, I can provide a superbill — a document you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Please check with your provider about your out-of-network benefits before your first session.
What are your session rates?
Individual Therapy: Initial Intake (60 minutes) | $150 Follow-up sessions: 55 min | $150 · 45 min | $100 · 30 min | $75
Couples Therapy: Initial Intake (90 minutes) | $200 Follow-up sessions: 60 min | $160 · 75–90 min | $180
How long will I be in therapy?
That depends entirely on you, your goals, your history, and the pace that feels right for your healing. Some clients come for a focused season of a few months. Others choose to continue longer as they work through deeper patterns. We talk about this together and check in regularly to make sure therapy is still meeting your needs.
